The estranged daughter of Billy Bob Thornton is facing murder charges.
On Wednesday, 29-year-old Amanda Brumfield was indicted for the death of a 1-year-old girl she was babysitting in Florida. She faces charges of first-degree murder, aggravated child abuse and aggravated manslaughter of a child.
She is being held without bail.
According to court records, Brumfield told police that the infant died last October after she fell from a playpen and hit her head. However, detectives believe Brumfield’s story is inconsistent with the girl’s injuries — the autopsy showed a fractured skull and brain injury — and allege that it took Brumfield more than two hours to call for help.
When Brumfield was arrested earlier this month, a publicist for her Oscar-winning father said that he “had no contact with her for quite some time.”
